At the sitting on Tuesday 11 September 2007, the first session of the third term
of the National Assembly, the Speaker, announced the appointment of Mrs. Azemia
as Clerk of the National Assembly
Mrs. Azemia worked as Deputy Clerk for the past nine years, succeeded Mrs. Sheila
Banks who retired in June this year
A teacher by profession, she has acquired sufficient knowledge and experiences which
helped her and opened avenues that facilitated her desire to joining the Trade Union
and politics. In 1993 to 1998, she was elected to the National Assembly on a proportional
basis, the time during which she developed considerable appreciation, interest and
respect for the institution.
she is determined to toil hard in order to enhance the smooth running of the Secretariat
as well as elevate the standard and status o the National Assembly.
After having registered as an external student at the University of London, Mrs.
Azemia pursued her pupulage at the Chambers of the Oceangate Law Center and the
Victoria Law and Consultancy Services, where she acquired ample knowledge that qualified
her to join the National Assembly as Deputy Clerk.
