Hon. Patrick Herminie, was elected MNA for the English River constituency for three consecutive terms (1993-2006).

During the 1998-2006 sittings he was elected as the leader of Government Business in the National Assembly. Hon. Herminie was also sat on the Constitutional Commission in 1991; the commission which drafted the constitution for the Third Republic.

Apart from his political career, Hon. Dr Herminie is a fully qualified doctor, with a Master's Degree in Public Health.

Hon. Dr. Herminie was elected Speaker of the National Assembly on the 29th of May 2007.
