A Welcome Message from the Speaker

 

Fifteen years have elapsed since the National Assembly of Seychelles was officially created. Each year has seen our institution grown from strength to strength. Today, the National Assembly is at the centre-stage of politics and has rightly claimed its place in the democratic evolution of our small country as it ventures on its quest for excellence.

From the Board of Civil Commissioners in 1872 to the present National Assembly, we, the People of Seychelles, have spared no effort to exploit our infinite capacity to learn, assimilate and evolve, but always propelled by our common desire to build a strong, prosperous and united nation. Assembly Business

Extraordinary Sitting of the National Assembly called- Friday 3rd April
 


Following discussions with the Leader of Government Business, Hon. Marie-Louise Potter, and the Leader of the Opposition, Hon. Wavel Ramkalawan, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Dr. Patrick Herminie, has called an emergency sitting of the National Assembly for tomorrow Friday 3rd April, 2009.


The main topic of discussion during tomorrow’s emergency sitting will be the issue of Piracy off the Somali Coast, which has propagated into the Indian Ocean- a matter of serious concern to the Seychelles Islands.

Speaker Back From Visit to China

A delegation from the National Assembly, headed by the Speaker, Hon. Dr. Patrick Herminie is back in the country from an official visit to the People’s Republic of China. He was accompanied by two Members of the National Assembly, Hon. Andre Pool and Hon. Norbert Loizeau.
