Main Function
The main functions of the
Committee on Government Assurances is to scrutinize the assurances,
promises and undertakings given by Ministers from time to time on
the floor of the Assembly and to:-

report on the extent to which
such assurances have been implemented and where implemented
whether such implementation has taken place within the minimum
time necessary for the purpose.

exercise such other functions
that are not covered by paragraphs (a) above which may be
allocated to the Committee by the Speaker from time to time.
Members of the Committee
- The Committee shall consist of
not more than seven members, not being the Deputy Speaker, the
Leader of Government Business or the Leader of the Opposition
and shall, as far as is practicable, reflect the strength of
political parties and independent Members in the Assembly.
- The members of the Committee
shall be nominated by the Assembly from amongst its members.
- The term of office of the
members of the Committee shall expire at the end of each session
of the Assembly.
As per the above, the following
Members were nominated in the Assembly on Tuesday 17th March, 2009-

- Hon. Mitcy Larue
- Hon. Marie-Antoinette Rose
- Hon. Jeovanna Charles
- Hon. Ansley Constance
- Hon. Gervais Henrie
- Hon. Sandy Arrisol
The Chairman of the Committee will
be elected at the Committee's first meeting.
Role and Purpose
The role and
purpose of the Committee on Government Assurance is to-
-
Scrutinise
the assurances, promises and undertakings given by Ministers and
other agents of Government in Parliament from time to time and
report on the extent to which those assurances, promises and
undertakings, have been implemented.

Comment on
delays in implementation and the adequacy of the actions taken.

Exercise
such functions that are not covered by paragraphs (1) and (2) as
may be allocated to the Committee by the Speaker from time to
time, and
-
Report on-
-
the
extent to which such assurances, promises, undertakings and
any other matters related to the foregoing have been
implemented, and
-
where
implemented, whether such implementations have taken place
within the minimum time necessary for the purpose.
